Alopecia Areata Associated with Canities and Vitiligo

Abstract
The etiology of alopecia areata has not been fully elucidated, but autoimmune theory is further strengthened by the increased association of alopecia areata with a number of autoimmune disorders and by the increased prevalence of organ-specific
autoantibodies in alopecia areata.
We experienced a patient who had developed canities and vitiligo on the alopecia lesions and the dorsum of hands during the treatment of alopecia areata for 14 months duration. He has been treated alopecia and vitiligo lesions with intralesional
injection of triamcinolone. Now almost entire scalp has been replaced with new terminal hairs and canities and vitiligo lesions are improved.
